The Kasota Prairie is a 90 acre reclamation project with lots of local support.
Kasota Kasota is a town with more to it than it seems. Like many of the towns around here, its borders are bigger than you'd expect; there are developments about halfway between the historic town of Kasota and Mankato that are called Kasota. I certainly was surprised to find that out, but a real estate development has to be somewhere, I suppose. Here's another quirk: in at least some parts of Kasota, for the moment, anyway, you can have a choice to have a St. Peter mailing address and have the mail delivered to you, or have a Kasota address and a Kasota post office box and pick the mail up yourself. There has been a lot of quarrying for limestone in town and out of it, all along the river valley between Kasota and Mankato. (The Kasota city park, which occupies a couple of blocks in town, was once a quarry with rodeos.) What are they after? A very nice architectural dolomitic limestone called, appropriately enough, Kasota stone. This yellowish stone has been featured in buildings all around the world.Kasota Real Estate Kasota real estate has been picking up lately. There have been a number of significant upgrades to some of the houses in town, and a few new houses as well. In addition to the aforementioned real estate developments, that is. Quite a bit of new construction, much of which is in the "quite pricey" category, has recently been completed. Very nice stuff. Call me for info.
